What I'm Cooking
Roasted chicken sausage, potatoes, and peppers and chocolate cobbler (friends over for dinner)
Whole wheat German chocolate cake (for my dad's birthday on Sunday)
Spinach tortellini en brodo. I'm not even sure what "en brodo" means -- in broth, perhaps? At any rate, this was mediocre, but probably just because I'm not a fan of cooked (or even wilted) spinach. I could've put that (not inexpensive) package of tortellini to better use. Oh well. We were all getting over the flu and all of my freezer meals were tomato-based; we needed something gentle on the tummies!
I used leftover pulled pork to make quesadillas out of our first-ever package of sprouted wheat tortillas. They were okay. Not as soft and pliable as regular tortillas, even whole wheat ones. If they were just with cheese, though, instead of juicy meat, I think they'd serve all right. They're a good price from the Azure Standard co-op (now with a drop point on the east side of Cincinnati!), and for the benefits of sprouted grain, might be worth it. I prefer tortillas to bread, so I'd like to have a better alternative than standard grocery store fare.
What I'm Reading
The Captive Queen by Alison Weir. I said last week that I wanted to look for more books by this author, since I liked The Lady Elizabeth so much. PLEASE DO NOT GO READ THIS BOOK. I'm not sure I'm even going to finish it. Holy X-rated 12th-century historical fiction, Batman.

Owen using the tongs for the first time (yay fine motor skills!). I'm so in love with those pudgy toddler hands.
Favorite pin: The Boho crown braid. I'm super-psyched that my hair is long enough to do this. I just need a little more practice doing an inside-out French braid upside-down.
Favorite blog post: Style and the Stay-at-Home Mom. This is not a blog I follow, or even that I've ever been to before, so I cannot account for its content. Please don't go poking around, find horrible things, and then think badly of me. This one post, however, is absolutely my life, especially as my weight is plummeting (thanks mostly to two rounds of the stomach flu). I also love that she references Rachel Meeks of Small Notebook, which is a blog I DO follow, mostly to covet her sense of style and then feel less-than because I'll never be able to pull it off. And, well, I LIKE having more than six outfit options. It is what it is.
Happy almost-Holy Week! I'm kind of excited for it this year. Bible study has been challenging and I'm feeling very thoughtful and meditative and repentant and eager to celebrate (in both joyful and somber ways). Plus, Levi's starting to "get" what's going on, and that adds another layer of interest. I'm hopeful for a very meaningful week.
