We spent our first two weeks of "official preschool" learning about creation, among other things. It makes me laugh a little, to hear what exactly Levi remembers and how he phrases things -- depending on the day, he's often quoting the Beginner's Bible we use most of the time, but occasionally phrases from the "big Bible" (as he calls it) come out, too (like God "rolling back the waters").
"In the beginning, darkness was everywhere. It was. The light turned on. Actually, God turned it on."
Tell me about the waters.
"He separated the waters . . . below, and the sky . . . what's in the sky? Some clouds."
Then what happened?
"Some dry grass . . . burst forth. [It comes out "bur-for." He loves that part.] He made some plants, too. And some apples."
What happened on day four?
[checking the wall where our craft projects are hung] "He made the stars and the moon and the sun and the white paper and the yellow paper." [Apparently, our tissue-paper sun and moon craft tremendously influenced his thinking.]
How about day five?
" . . . "
What animals did he make on the fifth day?
"Some birds. Some fish."
[He never remembers the sixth day and jumps straight to asking me about the seventh.]
"What happened on the seventh day?"
God rested.
"What happened on the eighth day?"
On the eighth day, God will make his new creation. But it's still the seventh day. [Daddy was very excited about imparting this first little bit of theological knowledge.]
I'll post about our crafts later, but here's what they look like (with apologies for Day 2 being in both photos, and that we didn't do anything crafty for the last three days):
