A quick and very belated look at the few things we did to celebrate Fathers' Day this year:
Reading stories with Daddy before breakfast (since he was the only boy awake):
A giant cinnamon roll made in a cast-iron skillet:
I made it the night before, and did the second rise slowly in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I whipped up just a basic powdered-sugar icing, since Isaac doesn't like cream cheese. Overall, fun to make and fun to eat (though we did have trouble determining when it was baked all the way through).

Before baking.
I made it the night before, and did the second rise slowly in the fridge overnight. In the morning, I whipped up just a basic powdered-sugar icing, since Isaac doesn't like cream cheese. Overall, fun to make and fun to eat (though we did have trouble determining when it was baked all the way through).
I have a 10" skillet, not 12" as the recipe called for, so I baked the extra
as a separate not-quite-as-giant roll. Also, we had bacon.
Shirt-and-tie cards. We made this as a group craft with the kids from my moms' group at church. I just eye-balled the ties to cut them out, no template or anything. The kids glued squares of construction paper to the cardstock ties. The collar is easy to make but hard to explain: fold cardstock in half; cut an inch or so off the back of the card, then at the same height, cut slits in the front of the card. Fold the strips in until the points meet and glue down. Glue the tie in the middle.
After nap time, we brought out the kiddie pool for the first time this season. They were having so much fun playing in the water with Daddy that I decided to skip making a meal and instead gave the boys a snack-y dinner (peanuts, raisins, pumpkin bread) at their little table. Isaac and I ate dinner (something really fancy, like leftovers from earlier in the week) after they went to bed.
First use of the towels, a gift from my aunt at Christmastime.
Hope your time with your fathers and husbands was equally sweet!
