Feeling rather worn out these days. This song isn't about motherhood, but for me, this week, it was.
Jesus, draw me ever nearer
As I labor through the storm
You have called me to this passage
And I'll follow, though I'm worn
Jesus, guide me through the tempest
Keep my spirit staid and sure
When the midnight meets the morning
Let me love you even more
Let the treasures of the trial
Form within me as I go
And at the end of this long passage
Let me leave them at your throne
It's a Keith Getty song, but Margaret Becker wrote the lyrics.

And I'll follow, though I'm worn
Jesus, guide me through the tempest
Keep my spirit staid and sure

Beautiful song. Margaret Becker is so gifted.
ReplyDeleteI love this song. I wanted to sing it after Alan died but couldn't even get a note out for over a year. Finally, last year, 9 years after his death I was able to sing this in church. Of course, it wasn't until I had wept my way through it in rehearsal.
ReplyDeleteSome songs just hit us like that! There's a Sovereign Grace song called "Gladly Would I Leave Behind Me" that Isaac and I couldn't listen to for a while in conjunction with our move to Minnesota. It's healing, though, once you ARE able to get through it!
